JOYS® is a categorizing system. However, instead of words, JOYS consistently uses color AND graphics to identify six simple categories. Color and graphics are recognized quicker than words and a predictable use of color and graphics creates a simple and effective filing system.

The subjects of life can be categorized into one of five simple categories, Everyday, Wealth, Wellness, Home and Interest with an Important category to collect the vital information from the five main categories.

The system can be as basic as the six categories above or subjects can be added to provide more depth. To add a subject to a category, simply apply the appropriate color and graphic to the text.

Many times a subject will fall into two categories. So, in the JOYS system, color identifies the main category and a graphic identifies the secondary category. Using color as the main identifier and graphics as the secondary identifier, an cross referencing system is created between the categories. This allows for subject overlap. This is also the reason you will NEVER NEED AN INDEX to find or file your stuff.
